Terms of use

Last updated 5 November 2026

1. These terms

These terms apply to your use of the Scottish Insider website at scottishinsider.org and any page or form we operate for pre-registration. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

2. The site is pre-launch

Scottish Insider is building a location-based game. The game is not live yet. This site explains the idea, collects pre-registrations and collects venue enquiries. Nothing on the site is a promise that the game will launch in a particular place, on a particular date, or with particular features. The service may change, pause or end.

3. Pre-registration

Pre-registration is free. It records your interest and, with your consent, lets us email you about launch. It does not create an account, reserve a place, or guarantee access to any reward, venue or event. You can ask us to delete your sign-up at any time.

4. Venue enquiries

Sending a venue enquiry does not create a partnership, a listing or a contract. Any partnership will be set out separately in writing, including pricing, the perk, redemption limits and how either side can end it. We may decline an enquiry for any lawful reason, including capacity or fit with the service.

5. When the game launches

The game will have additional rules covering things such as account use, verified visits, fair play, partner perks, code redemption and safety. Those rules will be published before play. They may include limits on rewards and the right to withhold credit where a visit cannot be verified or appears to be manipulated.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • submit false, misleading or unlawful information through any form;
  • use the forms to send spam, harassment or material you do not have the right to send;
  • attempt to access parts of the site or database you are not authorised to access;
  • interfere with the security, availability or integrity of the site;
  • scrape, copy or resell the site’s content without written permission.

7. Content and intellectual property

The site design, copy, artwork and code are owned by Scottish Insider or used with permission. You may read, share links to and print pages for personal, non-commercial use. Any other use needs our written permission. Story content, images and sources added later will carry their own attribution and licence details.

8. Third-party links

The site may link to other websites, including venue websites and the Information Commissioner’s Office. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

9. Availability

The site is provided as it is. We try to keep it available and accurate, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may change or remove features. Maintenance, hosting issues and security work may cause downtime.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss arising from reliance on pre-launch information. Your statutory rights are not affected.

11. Privacy

How we handle personal data is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the project develops. The date at the top will change, and material changes will be described. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the UK, this does not remove any protection you have under the law where you live.

14. Contact

Questions about these terms: use the contact form and choose “General question”.
